HOSPITAL ARCHITECT.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—it afforded me much pleasure to read Mr Vautier’s' letter appearing in your issue of the sth inst., especially as I note he is a fellow ot the N Z I.A I commend that gentleman s action in publicly expressing his opinion regarding this matter, and agree that the position obtaining at present cannot be either sustained or condoned and no public body shoulc allow such procedure to obtain under any circumstances. That the body In question owed a duty to the public is clear to all. I note that the chairman of * e local branch of the N.Z.I.A. malms it clear that the firm appointed docs not comply with the conditions of the appointment In respect to registration. Now, observing the fact that the board seleoted the architect at first appointed and then displaced him owing to the agitation of a few disgruntled applicants, who seized upon the flimsy matter of registration as a pretext or means of furthering their own ends and defeating the obvious rights of a more highly-qualified man, who, by the way, informed the board that lie was not registered and was applying solely on his qualifications, I, like many others, await the board's action regarding the present appointees. I ,t 0" 0. A. BROWN. Grey Street, Claudelands, Aug. 6.
