COLLAPSE AT A CONCERT.
SINGER STAGGERS AND DIES. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. At a concert given by the choir rf St. Mark’s Church, Remuera, to the Missions to Seamen in the Navy League rooms, Mr Robert 11. Gough, aged about 50, a member of the choir, collapsed after singing an encore number and died within a few minutes.
Mr Gough took part in the opening choir number and after the lapse of several items sang a solo. At the conclusion he was seen to put his hand to his heart, but in response to ,varm applause he sang an encore number. While the applause was still at its height, Mr Gough left the platform. He was seen to stagger, and collapsed into a chair into the front row of seats, and died in a few minutes. The concert programme was abandoned, the audience standing while the chaplain offered a prayer.
