VALEDICTORY
FAREWELL AT KEREONE. POPULAR RESIDENTS HONOURED. A farewell social was held in the Kereone Soldiers’ Hall in honour of Mr and Mrs H. Munro, who are leaving the district. A most enjoyable time was spent in dancing and games. Music was provided by Mr and Mrs H. MacQueen, Mrs M. Davies, and'Miss Lellie Philp.
A presentation was made by Mr N. E .Watts, on behalf of the settlers of Kereone and part of Kiwitahi, of a travelling rug to Mr Munro, and a handsome set of rose-bowls to Mrs Munro. Mr Watts stated the district was sorry that on account of Mrs Munro’s health it was necessary for them to loavo the district. Mr and Mrs Munro had taken a keen interest in the social life of the district in sports, concerts and plays. The presents were a mask of respect and esteem. * All wished them happiness and prosperity in their new home. Mr Munro said that he found it difficult to find words to express the gratitude of his wife and himself. They appreciated the honour and the splendid gifts, and would never forget the manner in which all present had come to the hall on such a night to honour them.
The guests were cheered, and musical honours were aooorded them,
