AMERICAN FILM MAGNATE

MAY GIVE UP HOLLYWOOD. AND JOIN FIRM IN ENGLAND. News has reached the London Daily Mail of a significant offer made by a group of British financiers to Mr Samuel Goldwvn, the film impressario and head of the Goldwyn Company of America.

The offer does not emanate from any of the existing British film concerns, but from outside the business. It seeks to obtain Mr Goldwyn a/ the head of a new British film-producing firm backed by ample financial resources.

This w'Ould necessitate Mr Goldwyn disposing of his American company, his studios, and his various film interests in Hollywood, and coining to England to control the new British firm. He would probably bring with him stars under contract to him, like Ronald Colman and Yilma Banky, and, possibly, also expert technicians. In response to an inquiry Mr Goldwyn said to a reporter: “Yes, it is perfectly true that such an offer has been made to me. At the moment all I can say is that I am extremely battered and 1 that I am giving the offer my serious consideration. I cannot give you any details of any sort, and I shall not make my decision until I return to Hollywood, as 1 have business associates there whom I must study. For the moment all I can say is that the offer has been-made."
