UNWELCOME COLLECTION
BTRONQ EXCEPTION TAKEN. DEFINITE RULING MADE. The presence of Sunshine League collectors at Rugby Park on June 3 was the subject of criticism at the meeting of the Waikato Rugby Union last night. Mr A. G. Yardley said he was fully in sympathy with the Sunshine League, but he took strong exception to a public collection on a football ground. Such a system was tantamount to forcing the public to donate. The public were asked to pay sufficient as it was to view football matches. He would like to have a definite ruling on the matter. There were numerous Qther charitable institutions which would also be following the example set by the Sunshine League on the occasion in question. It was decided that in future no collections should be permitted without the consent of the union.
