IMPOSSIBLE SCHEDULE
LATE RUNNING TRAINS.
INVESTIGATION BEING HELD.
MINISTERIAL STATEMENT.

DUNEDIN, Thursday
Asked this morning to answer an assertion that the late running, of trains was partly due to the engines not being thoroughly cleaned, caused by undue reductions in the cleaning staff, Hon. W. B. Taverner, Minister of Railways, stated that the speeding up authorised, by the previous Government had proved utterly impossible. It had made demands that the rolling stock couldn't stand up to on •single tracks. An investigation was proceeding to devise workable, schedules.
