OBITUARY.
MR WILLIAM H. PACEY. AUCKLAND, Saturday. A veteran of the British Navy and a pioneer in the defence of New Zealand, Mr William Henry Pacey died at his residence, Devonport, yesterday In his 82nd year. Mr Pacey is survived by his wife, one son, Mr R. Pacey, and one daughter, Mrs Lawson, of Otorohanga. MRS W. J. HOLMES. An old and respected resident of the Matamata district, Mrs W. .1. Holmes, passed away at the residence of her daughter, Mrs E. Hicklon, Auckland. Mr and Mrs Holmes were among the original settlers who look up sections in the Mangawhcro Block, Taihoa, about 22 years ago. At the conclusion of the war two of the sons took over the farm and their parents settled in Rotorua. The large number of friends who attended the funeral at Matamata testified to the esteem in which the late Mrs Holmes was held. Father Silk officiated at the graveside and manybeautiful wreaths, including one from the “ Old Identities,” were laid on her last resting place.
