DRUNKEN MOTORISTS.
FARMER FINED £25. MARTON, Thursday. A farmer, Lawrence Whale, of Marton, who had been previously convicted and fined for being drunk while in charge of a car, was before the Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a similar charge. q’hc magistrate imposed a fine of £25, and disqualified accused from obtaining a driver’s licence for a period of six months. FINE OF £2O IMPOSED. ALLOWED TO RETAIN LICENSE. DARGAYILLE, Thursday. An elderly man, Ned Warmington, was fined £2O and costs in the .Magistrate’s Court to-day for being intoxicated while in charge of a car. On the representations made by defendant’s counsel, who pleaded that defendant would he deprived of his only means of conveyance to his work, the magistrate agreed not to suspend his licence.
