LAND SETTLEMENT.
ON MAIN TRUNK LINE. \ ” MEETING AT TE KUITI. REPRESENTATIONS TO PREMIER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TE KUITI, Thursday. One of the most representative gatherings ever held in the district took place last night when representatives of local bodies, the Chamber of Commerce, and settlers met in Te Kuiti to discuss land settlement along the. Main Trunk Line. It was pointed out that large areas of land between Te Awamutu and Taihape should be available for land settlement, and a series of resolutions was passed, urging the Government to take action to have these areas investigated, with a view to adopting a concentrated settlement policy so that settlers could have the use of public amenities, the lack of which is detrimental to land development.
The meeting was most enthusiasticSeventy were present representing 30 different bodies from' Te Awamutu, Otorohanga, Te Kuiti, Taumarunui, and as far South as Waimarino.
It was decided to send a delegation to meet the Prime Minister and submit the resolutions.
