THE WAIKATO HUNT,

NEW SEASON ENTERED. MEET AT TAMAHERE. A PLEASANT TURNOUT. The Waikato Hunt, which officially set Its new season in progress on Saturday, held another very successful run at Tamahere" yesterday afternoon. The popularity of the Hunt’s programme grows with each season, and the latest term promises to be extensively patronised. Fine weather prevailed for yesterday’s meet, which was carried out over the properties of Messrs W. Newell and It. J. McKenzie. A good field turned out led by the Master, Mr Wynn Brown, on Saunterer, with about twenty couples of hounds. A hare was put up early in the proceedings on Mr McKenzie's property, which led the field on a long gallop back through Newell’s before she got clear. On half a dozen other occasions the quarry was sighted and a hot pursuit followed, but the hare got to safety in the area immediately bordering the river. there was the opportunity for the followers to give their mounts a good try-out and the efforts in this department were, on the whole, very satisfactory for so early in the season.i About 3.30 rain came on and a halt was called after some three hours of exhilarating sport. There was one spill, in which Mr J. Ryall sustained a shaking as the outcome of a fall which was caused when his mount swerved and stumbled in an endeavour to negotiate one of the fences.

At the conclusion of a very pleasing day followers we.e regaleu .ugh the hospitality of Mr Newell. Among those who participated in the meet were Messrs N. Brown, the whip, on I’aumai, J. Ryall (Aria) on a chestnut, P. Clarkin on Polite, C. Clarkin on Master Itolcy, 11. 11. Townsend on Temperature, W. Douglas on Archangel, J. Ranstea’d on Kismet, A. Ramsay on a bay, C.
