BEEF SLIGHTLY EASIER. SHEEP PRICES MAINTAINED. KEEN COMPETITION FOR PIGS. There was a further slight easing in values for beef at the weekly Westfield fat stock sale yesterday, although the demand was steady throughout. The quality was excellent, and heavier classes were again offered in large numbers. Extra choice ox sold at 36s per 1001 b, compared .with 37s last , week. Last ,week’s advance in values for sheep was maintained. There was an j average yarding, mostly of good ' quality. An average yarding of lambs found a ready sale at late quotations. Competition was again keen and values were firm for pigs, which were yarded in average numbers. In some classes values were slightly easier. Extra heavy prime ewes sold to £1 15s; heavy prime ewes, £1 12s to £1 13s Gd; medium prime ewes, £1 10s to £1 Us 9d; light prime ewes, £1 5s to £1 9s. Lambs were penned in average numbers, and sold readily at late quotations. Extra heavy prime made to £1 Us 3d; heavy prime, £1 6s to £1 8s; medium prime, £1 4s to £i 5s 9d; light prime, £1 2s Gd to £1 3s 9d; unfinished, 18s to £1 Is. Pigs were penned in less than average numbers. Values were easier on late quotations. Choppers sold fro-m £2 to £3 19s; heavy and medium baconcrs, from £3 12s to £4 Gs; light baconers and heavy porkers, from £3 to £3 ifls; medium porkers and light porkers, from £2 Gs lo £2 IGs; small and unfinished porkers, £1 15s lo £2 4s. Store pigs sold at late quotations. Large stores brought £1 Lo £1 10s; slips, 12s to 18s; wcaners, 5s to Us. Calves were penned in large numbers. Values were easier on late quotations. Runners made £5 to £G 17s Gd; heavy vealers, £5 to £6 8s; medium, £4 8s to £4 18s; light, £3 IGs to £4 Gs; smaller, £2 10s to £3 14s; small and fresh dropped, 5s to £2 8s; rough calves, £1 to £2 ss.

Dalgety and company, Ltd. Messrs Dalgety and Co-, Ltd., reports that'at the weekly Westfield- fat stock sale to-day, beef in large numbers were penned, the quality of which was fair. The yarding proved more than equal lo the demand, and the values eased on last week’s quotations. Prime heavy bullocks from Matarnuku Downs realised £l4, and were purchased by the Auckland Meat Company. Medium bullocks sold for 1113 to £l3 17s Gd; lighter, £l2 to £l2 2s Gd.

The quality generally was first-class and the entry again included many consignments of heavy cal tie. There was a steady demand throughout.
