OHAUPO TOWN BOARD.
THE MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the' Oiiaupo Town Board there were present Messrs E- J. Edwards (chairman). Anderson, West, Forsyth, Sanson, L. Turnwald, and the clerk. It was reported that a portion of Mill road, in the vicinity of Mr A. S. Karl’s main entrance, was getting in a bad state. There was no culvert, which caused the watertable to get blocked, an.d the water ran across the road, leaving a channel. —The clerk was instructed to write Mr Karl asking him Lo put a culvert across the entrance. It was resolved that all heavy traffic lorry-owners in the board's area be notified that heavy traffic license fees were payable to the Town Board and that the”clerk attend to the necessary receipts and discs. An application was received for a license to erect a building in the town from Mr F. Ebbctt.—GrantedTiie Te Awamutu Electric Power Board wrote concerning the trouble found with the lighting of the town. The bulbs arc always breaking, and the Power Board consider they are wilfully damaged.—The clerk was instructed to write the Te Awamutu Power Board, stating that this board does not think that the globes are wilfully damaged and that the board has come to the conclusion that U.e matter is of a technical nature, and requests that in future ail damaged globes should he left with the clerk to inspect. It was decided that the broken windows in the hall be attended to. It was reported that the metalling of Sands Street had been completed, and that a good road is now open to the public. it was reported that the weeding of the footpaths had been done very factorilyA sub-committee of Hires was appointed, consisting of the chairman and Messrs Anderson and Forsythe, lo Inspect'tiie footpaths, so that estimates and recommendations may be given to a future meeting.
A letter was read, written on behalf of the various local sports bodies, complaining about the facilities in the supper-room of the Memorial Hall. — The question was raised as to the authority exercised, and it was resolved that the letter be referred hack lo the writer.
