MORRINSVILLE ORPHANS.
THE ANNUAL MEETING. The Morrinsville Orphans Club held its annual meeting last night, and considering the inclement weather tlitere w'as a good and representative meeting of members. In the absence of the president, Mr G. F. Oates presided.
Tile report and balance-sheet, presented by the secretary, Mr J. A. Jones, were considered highly satisfactory by the members. The report showed that the membership was between GO and 70, and the meetings had been well-attended. Regret was expressed at the loss of Messrs Gummer, White, Barton and O’Connor, w'ho bad left the- district. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £ll. Assets were stated to be £4l 6s Gd and liabilities nil. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr A. H. J. Wyatt; vicepresidents, Messrs F. W. Wilkes, G. F. Oates, L. Echlin, and Faulkner; committee, Messrs H. Roberts, E. llitchman, N. Day, W. Hogg, A. Giflord.. A. Bremner, T. E. Martin and D. Wilson; chief steward, Mr F. N. Stringficld; auditor, Mr F. A. Hanan; hon. accompanist, Mr A. Gifford; secretary and treasurer, Mr I. A. Jones.
Hearty votes of thanks were passed to Bro. Buchan for his great services to the club in conducting the orchestra, and to Bros. O’Connor and Glimmer for the work they had done for the club; to Bro. Faukner, who had started the club and been its mainstay ever since; to Bro. A. Gifford for his services as accompanist. At the close of the meeting the committee met to arrange the date and place of the club’s meetings and other details. It is probable that the first meeting will be held on the 21st instant.
