LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

THE GAME AT HUNTLY. HAMILTON TEAM DEFEATED. NOTES AND COMMENTS. Last Saturday the Hamilton thirteen travelled to. Huntly and played the local thirteen. After a fast and good exhibition of the code the Huntly team won by 18 points to 10. Tackling was the only thing that kept the Huntly team from scoring a lot more points. They were far too heavy a team for the visitors and having a few more new players this season were as hard to beat as ever. The Hamilton team were not getting their share of the hall from the scrums and that made it hard.for the hacks.

S. Muir, at full-back, played his usual good game, his kicking and tackling helping his .-team out on many occasions.

Quinn, at centre, had very few chances, hut made the best of it when ttie hall came his way. The wings. L. Muir and G. Carter, had very littie to do on attack, but hart a more busy time on defence. Melnnarney, at second five-eighths, played a very good game considering it was the first time he had played in the position. He was a member of the Richmond Club last season. J. Muir, at first five-eighth, is very light but is improving each season. He makes a splendid effort to secure the ball and has a clever way of beating his man. A. Cameron, at. half-hack, who has been in Auckland for three seasons, was a great help to his team. He was smart at getting the hall to his backs.

The forwards all worked together, but were too light for Huntly. Padget hooked the ball very well for his first game. Hall was on the ball all the time, and scored a good try. Papish,. Bowler and Bravo will all improve with training. Coombes is very light but his try was well deserved, being the reward of fast following up.
