STOCK SALE.
AT FRANKTON YARDS. SHEEP SHOW SLIGHT ADVANCE, DROP IN FAT PIG PRICES. There was a heavy yarding of beef, a medium yarding of sheep, a very large yarding 'of fat pigs and an ordinary yarding of store pigs at the weekly stock sale held at the Frankton' stock saleyards yesterday. Beef quotations were on a par with the previous week’s rates and the sheep prices showed a very slight improvement. Store pigs were in advance of the previous week’s rates though fat pigs were easier. Tiiere was a large attendance of buyers and sellers, the competition was keen and the bidding was brisk. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: At the weekly stock sale in the Frankton yard yesterday we had a good yarding of beef and mutton. Beef was a shade easier, but mutton sold at late rates. There was also a good yarding of store lambs, which met with keen competition, ewes and lambs being also in demand. A good yarding of pigs sold at late rates, prime baconers selling at equal to 6£d to 7d per lb. and porkers at 6d to 6Jd. Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards yesterday as under: —There was a larger yarding of beef than usual, but prices were very similar to last week, excepting that heavy bullocks sold at lower values. We sold on account of Mr C. Palmer, a truck of prime heavy bullocks at up to £l4 10s and on account of Mr De Malmanche one truck of heavy bullocks at £l3 10s. Prime young cows and heifers sold at up to £lO 2s 6d; best cows made £9 17s 6d; rough and aged cows, £6 15s to £8; light cows and heifers, £5 to £6 12s Od; runners, at £3 2s. There was a moderate yarding of store cattle which sold at late rates. Good quality store cows, £5 10s to £7; inferior boners, £3 to £4 12s Od; a pen of weaner P.A. heifers brought £4 ’7s. There was a fair yarding of sheep, but only \ small entry of fats. Prime fat wethers made to 37s 4d; woolly fat lambs, 3is; 17 mixed sex woolly lambs, 255; 39 mixed sex woolly lambs, 24s 6d; 128 mixed sex shorn lambs, 235; 52 shorn wether iambs, 225; 90 mixed sex black faced lambs, 21s; 22 woolly mixed sex lambs, 23s 9d; on account of Estate McAlister, 309 four, six and eighttooth ewes in lamb to Romney rams, 28s 9d; 29 aged ewes, 24s Gd; 24 cub ewes, 15s; 5 2-tooth Romney rams, 1 Jgns.; 2 f.m. rams, £1 Is. There was a heavy yarding of fat pigs, which sold at firm late rates. We yarded a particularly fine line of fat pigs (50) on account of Ayers and Smith, Waharoa. whicli averaged £4 is; Prime fat baconers, £4 to £4 3s; good heavy baconers, £3 5s to £3 19s; lighter, £2 19s to £3 3s; porkers, heavy £2 5s to £2 17s Gd; lighter, 25s to 30s; good store pigs, 17s 6d to 255; slips, 15s to 17s; weaners, 6s 6d to 11s Gd. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report:—At Hamilton sale yesterday we had- a good yarding of stock of all classes. Cow and heifer beef sold at late rates, but steers were easier, and prices generally were equivalent to £1 14s per 1001 b. Fat sheep fully maintained the rise in values, which occurred at the previous sale, and store sheep and cattle met with a strong demand. G. W. Verco© and Co., Ltd. Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Co., Ltd., report having hold their usual stock sale at Frank ton yesterday, when a good yarding of beef and pigs came forward. Sheep and store cattle \\ere yarded in fair numbers. A line of Polled Angus bullocks failed to reach the owner’s reserve, and was passed in. Cow and heifer beef sold at late rates, while ox beef was slightly easier. A line of 10 fat cows and heifers on account of Mr F.
