.Mr J. L. Black, of the goods office of the Frankton Junction railway station, has resumed duty after a long and serious illness.

The Rev. Jas. Hay left Cambridge this week for Nuhaka (Hawke's Bay), tj attend a Maori Mission Workers’ Conference.

Professor T. A. Hunter, of Victoria University College, Wellington arrived in Hamilton this morning. He is to lecture here on Frdiay evening, and will return to Wellington by Sunday night’s train.

Mr Clayton Greene arrived at Hamilton to-day at the head of "The Wrecker” Company. He is a brother of Mr C. F. Clayton Greene, of Hamilton, and is making his first visit to New Zealand, from England.

The service of Mr H. R. Mackenzie as chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board for the past seven years was recognised yesterday at the first meeting of the newly-elected board in an appreciative resolution.

The superior-general of the Marist Fathers, the Very Rev. Dr. Rleu, S.M., arrived in Auckland from Rotorua on Monday, accompanied by the Very Rev. Father Moran, assistant-general and the Very Rev. Dr. Kennedy, provincial of Ihc order in New Zealand. They arc the guests of Bishop Cleary.

At yesterday’s meeting of the Auckland Presbytery a resolution of sympathy was passed with the Rev. M. Richards, of Takapuna (formerly of Morrinsvillc), in his illness, and he was granted three months’ leave of absence.

Reference to the death of Mr H. P. Kissling, general manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company, was made by Mr NI. J. Bennett, president of the Karangahape Road Business Promotion Society, at a luncheon of the society yesterday. As a mark of respect members stood in silence for a l'ew moments.
