BIG SEA FISHING
HAMILTON RESIDENT’S SUCCESS. MR ELLIS’ RECORD CATCH. I WHAN CARO A, Monday. A feature of the season ,at Whangaroa is the number of fish landed by Mr S. Ellis, of Hamilton, in the launch Rcclemin. Up io the present, 128 fish have been caught at Whangaroa, and of that number 36 have been secured bv Mr Ellis. Particulars of Mr Ellis’ catches are as follows: —Swordfish. 23; total weight, 59101 b; average weight, 2571 b. One broadbill, 5681 b. (me thresher shark, Olblb.’ (world’s record). Nine mako sharks; total weight, 21381baverage weight, 237ib. Two hammerhead sharks; total weight, G4Bib.; average weight, 3241 b. The total weight of the fish caught by Mr Ellis is 10,1851 b., and the average weight 2831 b. In addition lo holding ihe world s record for a thresher shark, previously held by Mr Whitc-Wickham, of England, Mr Ellis holds four club records for this season, and also the record for the biggest one day’s catch, when lie caught five game fish. __
