PIONEER OF WAIKATO.

NINETY-THIRD BIRTHDAY. Mrs E. Munro, of Horsham Downs, celebrated her ninety-third birthday to-day. In the ship Swift Shore Mrs Munro came to New Zealand 64 years ago, with her husband, the late Mr Philip Munro. She landed at Onehunga, and came to the Waikato, where she has since resided. In the early days of the settlement, when Mr Munro was a member of the 4th Waikato Militia, the soldiers and their families lived in tents and later in barracks in Hamilton. The early recollections of Mrs Munro centre in the campfires of the soldiers and the hardships of the pioneering days. Mrs Munro, who is still vigorous in spite of her years, resided at Whiliora, Hamilton, and two years ago moved to Horsham Downs.
