COMMERCIAL NEWS.

AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS. The following were the closing quotations on the Auckland stock market yesterday:—

MANAWATU STUD ROMNEY SALE. The first day of this .initial Fair was held at Feilding on Wednesday, 15th instant, and Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report a substantial entry of local breeders’ rams, with a few small pens of ewes. There was naturally a great deal of conjecture as to the fate of the sale hut immediately the first good sheep entered the ring, all doubt was dispelled, and the fixture must rank amongst the most successful of its kind. Striking sheep from leading breeders evoked the keenest of bidding, guineas were shot freely through the air, and applause greeted both buyer and seller of the high figured rams. Buyers .were present from overseas and all parts of the Dominion, hut the majority of the outstanding sheep will find their new homes within easy distance of the ring in which they changed hands.Covering the sale generally, many object lessons were taught, and it was noticeable that sheep below a certain high standard, failed to interest any section of the very large attendance. The following are our principal sales:—Account Blair and Hunter: 1 1-shear Romney ram at lOOgns, to A. 11. Rhodes, Rata; account W.
