HAILSTORM IN SOUTH.
MOVEMENT FOR RELIEF. OAMARU, Wednesday. As a result of representations Mr R. B. Tennant, of the Agricultural Department, and a field officer of the Lands Department at Dunedin, will make investigations with a view to affording relief in some measure to those farmers who suffered through Monday’s hailstorm, 80 per cent, of whom are Grown tenants. The Dominion president of the Farmers’ Union, Mr W. J. Poison, has telegraphed on behalf of farmers in the north, expressing regret at the disastrous loss sustained by their fellow producers. The local branch of the union is also interesting itself with a view to affording relief.
