CONTRAVENED THE ACT.
HOSPITAL LAW ANOMALY. SUGGESTED AMENDMENT. Under section 23 of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Act, no member of a Hospital Board may undertake work .for the board of a greater value than £5 at any one time, or £lO in one year. The managing secretary of the Waikato Hospital Board'(Mr E. G. Johnson) mentioned at a meeting of the board to-day ,that a member of the board had.unintentionally contravened the Act, and the matter had been drawn attention to by the audit inspector. Personally, the speaker considered that the Act was too narrow in its limits in thls 'respect', and on his recommendation It 'was decided to send a remit to the next Hospital Boards’ conference suggesting fan alteration of the sums ’6l £5 and £lO to £lO and tti respectively.
