DAMAGES FOR A COLD.
CAUGHT 15 YEARS AGO. The Frenchman’s legendary- dread of draughts was amusingly illustrated in the Paris civil court. M Lannes, son-m-law oi al. *ai lieres, a former president of the republic, was ordered to pay £4O damages because one of his former employees. M. Gautron, caught a cold lo vears ago, when M. Lannes was head of the Inland Revenue Department at Versailles. , ■ M Gautron alleged that M. Lannes, as head of the department, was to blame for allowing draughts to blow through the office, and that his cold developed into chronic bronchitis. One witness stated that M. Gautron was an anti-draught fiend, and that he caught a cold even from the shght displacement of air caused by counting of banknotes at an adjoin--lll gTh cS lcourt was unable to say how M Gautron caught the much-dispute l cold hut gave judgment in his favour for loss suffered through interruption of his work.
