COVENT GARDEN SEASON. HIGHER PRICES DECIDED ON. (Frm a Correspondent.) LONDON, November 18. Opera will be given next, summer at Covent Garden on the same lines as this year, but an increase of prices is announced. The same syndicate will be in possession, with Colonel Eustace Blois as general manager. The following operas will be performed:— Mozart: “Dion Giovanni.” Wagner: “Lohengrin,” “The Ring” (two cycles), “Mastersingcrs,” “Tristan and Isolde.” Verdi: "Othello.”

Moussorgsky: “Boris Godounov.” | Puccini: “Tosca," “Madame Butterfly,” “Manon Lescaut,” “Turandot.” Strauss: “The Rose Cavalier.” There is a possibility of a revival of j Bellini's “Norma” and Puccini’s “Girl of the Golden West” also. The latter is one of Puccini’s lesser operas which ( was produced in 1911 and has hardly - been heard since. One complete i novelty will be produced. 1 Reason for Higher Prices. ] A representative of the syndicate : said that, while expenses at Covcnt Garden were now about 60 per cent i higher than in 1914, the prices of i seats in recent seasons had been only ; about 5 per cent higher. In 1929 the f prices will show an increase of about i 19 per cent. Pit-tier and grand-tier boxes will cost £472 10s (tax included) for the season of 50 performances.
