CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES.
(By Telegraph.—Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The championship singles bowling tournament was continued to-day. The results are as follows: The Play. The seventh round saw the elimination of the last of the Australians. These were Allolt and Beulke, of Melbourne.
Pilkington (Hamilton) was defeated in the eighth round by North (Te Awamutu), after a hard light, there being a difference of only one point. One of the most interesting games of the eighth round was that between Watson (Tirau) and Parsons (Ponsonby). The former for the first ten heads drew beautifully and looked a winner with the score 10—2 in his favour, but Parsons drew patiently and well. On three or four occasions Watson elected to drive, with the result he lost his drawing touch, and Parsons, drawing accurately, piled up 21 points in seven heads. Watson then retired. THE NINTH ROUND. At the end of the ninth round the only competitors remaining in were:— North (Te Awamutu). Parsons (Ponsonby) Smart (New Plymouth). Coltman (Carlton). De Launay (Epsom). Pollock (Newtown). North was the only player left with two lives.
