MOSQUITO MENACE.
DANGER OF MALARIA. ENTOMOLOGIST'S INVESTIGATIONS (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, Jan. 8. It is announced that malarial mosquitoes exist in the LceLon irrigation areas in enormous quantities. This is regarded as a possible explanation of the extraordinary inertia which has attacked all types of people in that area in the past few months. It will be recalled that there was a serious epidemic of pneumonic influenza at Leeton some time ago, after which Dr. Ronald Harris, an expert entomologist, commenced an investigation on behalf of the New South Wales Government into the mosquito menace.
His investigations have now revealed the presence of swarms of malarial mosquitoes, and there is hut one element lacking to complete the cycle. It is the means by which they may deliver their deadly virus.
If this element presents itself Dr. Harris is of the opinion that death and disaster would soon stalk through the land.
