WESTFIELD MARKET. TO-DAY’S QUOTATIONS. BEEP FIRM AND HIGHER. (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Messrs A. Buckland and Sons report that at the weekly Westfield fat stock market to-day they penned 251 head, comprising 135 steers, 116 cows and heifers, compared with 355 last Thursday. The ox beef was of excellent quality. There was an improved demand, and values were firmer by Is to 2s per 1001 b. Extra choice ox sold to 43s per 1001 b, choice and prime 40s to 425, ordinary and plain 37s to 395, prime young cow and heifer beef 35s to 38s, ordinary cow 30s to 345. Extra 1 heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l6 10s to £l7 15s, heavy £ls 5s to £l6 7s 6d, lighter £l3 15s to £ls 2s 6d, light £l2 to £l3 12s 6d, unfinished and small £9 to £ll 17s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £lO 5s to £ll 10s, heavy £9 to £lO 2s 6d, lighter £7 to £8 17s 6d, other cows £5 10s to £6 17s 6d.

SMALL YARDING OF BEEF. PRICES SHOW A RISE. (By Telegraph—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: A small yarding of ox beef came forward, and was sold under good competition at prices in excess of ljast week's rates. Medium weight bullocks realised £l2' 15s to £l3 17s 6d; light weight bullocks, £lO 7s 6d to £l2 ss. Cow and heifer beef also came forward in less than average numbers, and here again values shovved a rise on last week’s rates. Prime cow and heifer beef realised £9.10s to £lO 12s fid; medium £7 10s to £8 15s; light £6 12s fid to £7 7s 6d. Extra choice ox sold at 43s per 1001 b.; choice and prime, 39s to 425; just klllable, 36s to 38s; prime young cow and heifer beef, 38s; just killable 31s to 355.
