BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.
POPULAR GENERAL MANAGER. MR H. BUCKLETON HONOURED. (By Telegraph. —Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A large gathering of officers of the Bank of New Zealand from all parts of the Dominion assembled in the board room yesterday, when Mr H. Buckleton, general manager, who attained his 50th year of service with the bank on Saturday, was presented with a portrait in oils, painted by A. Nicoll, and a pearl tiepin. Mrs Buckleton, who was present, was presented with a toilet set and brushes in enamels. Testimony was borne to Mr Buckleton's ability and high sense of duty. A replica of the portrait is to hang in the board room. In his reply, Mr Buckleton said the board and executive were only too glad to give the officers every opportunity of qualifying for high positions. He stressed the importance of the technical training of bank officers.
