PRICES AT WEBTFIELD. TO-DAY'S SALE REPORT. (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report that at the WestiTeld sale to-day there was a heavy yarding of ox beef for which bidding was somewhat erratic. Prices for ox beef remained on about a level with last week's prices. One truck of prime bullocks on account of C. Hemming (Mamaku) realised £l4 15s and £ls. The latter pen was purchased by Messrs Bridges and Overington, of Wellesley Street, City. One truck on account of the Towers' Estate (Matamata) .realised £l3 2s Gd, £l3 17s 6d and £l4 17s Gd, the latter pen being purchased by A. W. Scotting, of St. Heliers.

Cow and heifer beef was also yarded in large numbers and sold at late rates. We quote: Extra choice ox beef, 42s per 1001 b; choice and prime ox beef, 38s to 41s per 1001 b; killable ox beef, 35s to 37s Gd per 1001 b; prime young cow and heifer beef, 35s to 37s per 1001 b; just killable cow and heifer beef, 33s to 3is Gd per 1001 b.

FIRM TONE IN BEEF.

LATE RATES MAINTAINED. The Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reports: At to-day's Westfield market Christmas beef was penned in more than average quantities. The market displayed a firmer tone, with values very firm at late rates. Heavy cattle improved in value. Extra choice ox beef sold to 42/- per 1001 b, choice and prime 38s to 41/-, ordinary and plain 35s to 37s 6d prime young cow and heifer beef 35s to 375, ordinary cow 33s to 34s Gd. Extra heavy prime steers ranged In price from £l6 to £lO 12s Gd, heavy £l4 10s to £ls 15s, prime steers £l3 to £l4 17s Gd, light £ll 15s to £l2 17s Gd, unfinished and small £lO to £ll 12s Gd, extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £ll to £l2 10s, heavy £9 15s to £lO 17s Gd, lighter £8 7s Gd to £9 12s 6d, light £7 to £8 ss, other cows £5 to £6 15s.
