AUCKLAND CAMPING GROUND.

NOW OPEN. The newly-established motor camping ground on the Showgrounds at Epsom, Auckland, has now been opened, and already several visitors from the South have availed themselves of this privilege. Visitors from the South can locate the ground by following the Great South Road as far as the tram terminus, which is met at the Harp of Erin, and is four miles from the waterfront. After proceeding half a mile along the tramline, the yellow A.A.A. sign indicates a turn to the right towards the ground, which is situated a few hundred yards up the road. Every convenience is being provided for motorists, electric irons, penny-in-thc-slot gas rings, shower baths, wash for motor cars, permanent bunk houses for ladies, and a caretaker is in constant attendance. The charges are 3s per car per night, with an extra charge of is per person if the bunks are used. The weekly charge is 12s 6d. The gates of the camp will be locked at night in order to preserve privacy, but an electric bell will be connected to the caretaker's residence, and any motorists wishing to enter after 11 p.m. must ring this bell. The Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, on whose ground the camp is located, is responsible for the conduct of the camp, and the Auckland Automobile Association is working in conjunction with the Pastoral Association and recognising the camp as the official site for Auckland City. Motorists desiring to reserve any particular space should communicate with the caretaker, Mr L. Birch, at the Auckland Motor Camp, Showgrounds, Epsom. Motorists from the North will find a very well-equipped ground at Tui Glen, Henderson, which is also officially recognised by the Automobile Association. This camp is indicated by a sign a-quarter of a mile south of Henderson post office.
