When Ralph John Garrett, who pleaded guilty at Taihapc to rape, appeared before Mr Justice Macgregor for indecency to-day, His Honour remarked that it seemed that if he had noj, pleaded guilty and had been properly defended he would have got off. The probation officer at Taihape recommended probation, but the Crown Prosecutor took the opposite view. His Honour remanded prisoner for sentence, saying that he would have to consider the position further. Bail was refused. PRISONERS SENTENCED. WELLINGTON, Friday. In the Supreme Court to-day David Parkinson, on six charges of breaking, entering and theft, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment. Aston George Edwards, of the Wellington Harbour Board, was admitted to three years' probation. Thomas Walsh and Charles Frederick Walsh, for breaking, entering and theft, and Thomas Walsh for theft, were ordered two years iu Borstal each.

Alfred Grisedale, for dual voting, was ordered to pay costs, £i is.
