TENNIS QUEEN CARNIVAL.

GALA DAY AT LAKE.

LARGE ATTENDANCE OF PUBLIS

Ideal weather conditions, combined with a large attendance contributed in a large measure to the success of the Hamilton Suburban Lawn Tennis Association's gala, which was held at the Lake this afternoon. The function was organised with the object of raising funds to procure courts On which to play competition matches. Stalls and sideshows arranged around the grounds provided a shopping centre and amuseme.nt park for all, while races and other athletic events catered for the wants of the children.

During the afternoon ttie Waikato Regimental Band rendered a number of selections which were greatly appreciated. The following were responsible for the various stalls and sideshows: — Drinks and ice-cream. Mesdames Bateman and Oxenham (Frankton). Produce. Mesdanfes Munro, Weatherley, Hirst and Miss Olsen (Ruakura and Power Board). Afternoon tea.—Mrs Cully and Miss Mavis Jones (St. Paul's and Hamilton East Presbyterian). Cakes. —Mrs Mead and Miss McMiken (Fairfield and, St. Peter's). Sideshows. —Messrs . v isher, Cooper, Pye, and Darrow (2) (St. Peter's and Fairfield). Drinks.—Mrs Scott (Railway). The judges for the sports were Messrs Cliffe, Cully, Brown, and Cates. The results of the events which had been decided when we went to press were:—
