PERMANENT ROAD SURFACING. IMPORTANT CONTRACTS LET. (Special to Times.) TIRAU, Friday. Important contracts for permanent road surfacing in Matamata County were let at to-day's meeting of the council. . For the bituminous surfacing oi tne Putaruru-Arapuni main highway (about nine miles) the tender of 11. Bray and Company, of Auckland, at £14*708, was accepted. The engineer's (Mr E. Fitzgerald) estimate was £14,- ~ 03 - , »„ For bituminous surfacing of the Hinuera-Tc Poi main highway H. Bray and Company's tender of £9913 was accepted, the estimated cost being £9525. Both these works bear a £2 for £.l subsidy from the Main Highways Board. .
