THE SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION.

QUEEN" CARNIVAL PROGRESS

FETE AT LAKE TO-MORROW

At a meeting of the Carnival Committee of the Hamilton Suburban Lawn Tennis Sub-Association mutters in connection with the Fete to be held at the Lake on Saturday were iinalised. Mr F. Blackwood presided.

The sub-committee set up to allot space reported that the necessary arrangements had been made.

The chairman reported that the Defence authorities bud kindly given permission fur the Drill Hall to be used in the event of wet weather, and also that the Horse Bazaar was available by kind permission of the Borough Council, both free of charge.

After discussion it was decided that the Fete be hold in the Drill Hall il' wet. -Notice will be posted at the Times Office.

Jt was reported that no arrangements had been made by the club responsible for the fruit and sweet stall and this was allotted to Ruakura —, Power lioard.

The nature of the crowning ceremony was discussed, and will be finalised before the closing of votes next Wednesday evening. The delegates reported great activity, and given a flue day the success of to-morrow's function is assured.

MONOVALE v. IWAUNGATAUTARI. The first match this season (Maungatautari v. Monovale) for the cup kindly donated by Mr F. Smith, was played on the Monovale courts on Saturday. Perfect weather prevailed, though a trifle warm for strenuous games, and the matches were all most enjoyable. There was quite a crowd of spectators to watch the match, which proved most interesting and there were some very good games. In a number of sets, the score was "five all," and Monovale happened to win the lucky stroke practically each time. The Courts were perfect. The visitors were hospitably entertained, luncheon and afternoon tea being provided by the local ladies. Following were the scores, Maungatautari mentioned first:—
