DASH WITH RING.
JEWELLER IN PURSUIT. A SYDNEY SENSATION. Unusual excitement prevailed in King Street, Sydney, the other day, when a well-dressed man is alleged to have made a bold bid to steal a £6OO diamond ring from the jeweller's shop of W. G. Taylor and Co. Entering the shop about 1.30 the man asked Mr F. Lyon, one of the assistants, to show him a pad containing rings worth about £6OO. After inspecting several rings for a few minutes he is alleged to have taken one and bolted out of the shop. As he dashed through the door he shouted: "This one will do me!" Mr Taylor immediately chased the man, crying "Stop, thief 1" When nearing George Street the man dropped the ring. A little further on the man was tripped and held by Beveral pedestrians, assisted by .Mr Taylor, until the arrival of the police. The ring was picked up by a passer- j by and returned to the shop. J
