Valuer's home in River Road on Saturday. Tennis, putting and Aunt Sally are included in the competitions and everything is being done to make it a huge success. * * * * The loss sustained by Mr F. W. Furkert, chairman of the Main Highways Board and Engincer-in-Chief to the Public Works Department, in the death of his wife, was the subject of a resolution of sympathy at the meeting of the Taranaki County Council. ENGAGEMENT. An engagement of New Zealand interest this week is that between Ambrose Spong, M.D., M.R.C.P. (London), F.R-C.S. (England), barrister-at-lavv, of Gray's Inn, youngest son of the late Frederick Spong. of Manston Rouse. Crossgates, Yorkshire, and Julia Isabella Dorothy, only daughter nf Mr and Mrs H. o. Nolan, of Ardwall, Auckland.
