The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cablegram from its London office, dated October 12, advising Smithfield delivered prices averaged for the week-end at that date as follows: — New Zealand.—Wethers and Maidens: Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561 b and under, 71d per lb; 571 b to 641 b, 7d; 651 b to 721 b, 6gd. Other brands, 561 b and under, 7d; 571 b to 641 b, 6gd; 651 b to 721 b, "6fd. Ewes: 641 b and under, 5Ad. Lambs: Canterbury quality 361 b and under, 10id; 371 bto 421 b, 10Jd; 431 bto 501 b, 9Jd; ■ seconds, 9Jd; selected brands, 361 b and under, 10 l-8d; 371 b to 421 b, 10 l-Bd. Other brands, first quality, 3Clb and under, 9.Jd; 371 b to 421 b, 9jd; second quality , 301 bto 321 b, average, Old. Beef: Ox fores, 4d; hinds, 51d; cow fores, 3id; hinds, 4J d. Argentine Lambs.—First quality, 361 b and under. Old. Chilled Beef: Ox fores, 4 l-8d; hinds, 6 l-Bd. Frozen Pork. —Porkers, 601 b to 80 lb, lid; 811 b to 991 b, 7±d; 1001 b to 1201 b, 7]d; baconcrs, 12.11 bto 180 lb, 7id. Lamb.—The market is still depressed by heavy supplies of home killed. Mutton.—The market continues weak for the same reason as lamb. Beef.—Heavy supplies of Argentine chilled beef are depressing the market. New Zealand Porker Pigs.—Warm weather and heavy supplies of home killed are affecting the demand. New Zealand Baconer Pigs.—Nominal prices.
