BOY'S WEEK

The observance of "Boys' Week" is a commendable idea, and the band of Hamilton citizens who this week are devoting a portion of their time to (his object are doing a good work —a work of mutual profit, for it will benefit the citizen as well as the lad. It will establish a point of contact between the two generations, for while it will be a pleasant reminder, to the man of affairs that he was once a care-free, funloving boy, the youth will no doubt in turn be impressed with the fact that the time of irresponsibility and levity cannot endure for ever and that the day will dawn upon which he will have to shoulder a full share of the duties of citizenship, for the discharge of which he is now consciously or unconsciously preparing. The note struck to-day by the speakers at the several schools was "Citizenship," and it is unquestionable that some of the speakers have made some impression upon some of the boys which will manifest itself in years to come and have an influence of which possibly the speaker did not, and docs not, dream. The rising generation will be faced with some complex problems, and just how they will approach them will depend largely upon the ideals that are being

placed before them and the training they now-receive. While the responsibility for the actual decisions when made will depend upon the trainees, the trainers cannot divest themselves of their share, for it will be as they inspire the youth that the man will act. The programme for the week as laid down by the committee is a comprehensive, one, touching the life of ihe lad at all angles—the playground, the school, the home, the workshop, and the church—and it is hoped that the efforts of the committee to make Boys' Week a success will be enthusiastically supported by parents and guardians.
