(To the Editor.) Sir, —In your issue of the Bth inst. there is a report of the deputation to Mr Sterling re the changing of the name fo Prankton Junction. A member ,of that deputation is reported to have stated that there has not been a single letter in the press in opposition to the change.- I do not know if this was a slur In any way, but if this member had only spent a few.minutes on our local press on the 7th inst. ha
could not have so boasted, and it is pnlv one of the many letters of protest appearing from time to time. Another point raised in favour of the change is the fact of the family, from one of whose members l-'rankton took its name, having no objection. With alt credit to this family, sir, there are many other families who have through, if not their own, their parents’ labours, materially assisted in bringing Frankton up to its present standard, of which Hamilton generally seem so envious and anxious to have the name of Hamilton placed on its railway station, and I think their voices ought to be taken on the question in spite of the reported meeting of Frankton residents being taken and approved- Trusting this, along with “Franktonitc’s" letter, will help to arouse some of the old hands of Frankton and save the place being once again plucked of a feather for Hamilton's cap.—l am, etc., PIONEER'S SON.
