A case which will possibly lead to the amendment of the law regarding the degress of relationship in which a marriage is illegal, was decided by the Scottish Court of Criminal Appeal, when a man married his deceased wife’s niece. Both were convicted of The Judge pointed out that the law now permitted a man to marry his deceased wife's sister’s daughter. He hoped the case would direct public attention to the anomaly. Accused, in view of their ignorance of the law, were admonished and released.
