JOCKEYS' PREMIERSHIP.
T. GREEN WINS. The racing season ended with the Gisborne meeting on Saturday, and during the last few weeks there has been a great battle between T. Green and R Heed for the jockeys' premiership. Before the Ilawke's Bay meeting Green had G 8 winning rides and Reed GG. After the latter fixture Green was one ahead, but during the course or the Wellington meeting they drew level. ' Gallanmorc, however, won the last event, and put Green again on top. Going to the South Canterbury meeting (Heed did not ride at Timaru) Green scored on Beau Geslc which made him two in front, hut at Gisborne on Thursday Reed rode Dishonoured, and was only ene behind Green when the final struggle was entered upon on Saturday. Green got home on Abisogne in the Trial Handicap. Heed failed lo ride a winner and the final tallies were: Green 75,'Reed 73, A. E. Ellis GO. Green who was orr'y an apprentice last season, won the championship with 47| wins, while B. McTavish was second with 45. Then came B. 11. Morris (42*), J. Barry (42), and R. Reed (41 J).
