CAMBRIDGE CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Cambridge Trotting Club was held on Friday night. The president (Mr R. Haimon) occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance of members. President's Remarks. The chairman, in his opening remarks, said that he had pleasure in stating that the past year had been a highly successful one for the club from every point of view. The club had not heen very long in existence, but it had made wonderful strides, and he felt sure it would be one of the leading clubs in the Auckland Province. They had received great help from the Waikato Central Agricultural Association and the Waikato Hunt, and he was pleased that these three bodies had been able to work amicably together for their .mutual benefit. The membership at present was 165, but he would like to see it raised to 200He was happy to say that the club had now a small credit balance in the bank. Annual Report. The annual totalisator meeting, held on the club's course on May 5, was the most successful one yet held. An increase of nearly £2OOO was put through the totalisator. Very complimentary remarks were passed by owners and trainers on the condition of the track. The profit from the meeting amounted to over £950. The committee signed and scaled a purchase agreement with Mr James Taylor for his freehold property which forms part of the course, and arrangements were made lo reduce the purchase price by at least £2OO yearly, and they leased the grazing to Mr James Taylor. Fresh arrangements for a .further term to lease the course are now being made with the Waikato Hunt, and also for their help in adding to the totalisator house, and more " terracing," which is essential for the public to view the races on Labour Day. Balance-sheet. The balance-sheet showed a gross profit on the year's working of £279 3s Bd, which wiped off a debit from last year of £154 12s 3d, and left a nett credit balance of £124 lis 5dThe main items of income were: Nominations and acceptances, £588; members' subscriptions, £144 18s; totalisator and refunds, £3159 16s; gates, £337 15s 6d; sundry items making the total up to £4631 lis lid. Expenditure: Stakes, £1205; Government tax, £1458 13s; rent and rales, £lßl 10s 4d; secretary's salary, £100; gate and course officials, £164 16s lOd; caretaker and extra labour, £206 6s; buildings, £259 6s lid, the balance being made up of small accounts. The balance-sheet further showed assets over liabilities amounting to £3530 Is. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr J. S. Fisher said .the statement presented was highly satisfactory. The fact of a small credit balance was very gratifying in view of the considerable sum of money spent on the grounds, which would now compare favourably with any other in the province. Mr Fisher congratulated the club on having such worthy officials as Mr Walter Stopford (secretary) and Mr 11. S. Morse (caretaker), who had ably carried out their duties, and were largely responsible Tor the success of the club. Committer. There were six nominations for the four vacancies on the General Committee, viz., Messrs R. Hannon, J w Garland, 'J. McMillan, N. Banks', T Cray, and R. R. Foster. Upon a ballot being taken the first four were elected Messrs A. N. Niooll and N. G. Sutherland were re-elected treasurer and auditor respectively.
