Pouri and Wiltshire, local candidates for the Grand National Steeplechase at Riccarton next month, were given a term of jumping in the work they carried out at Te Rapa this morning. There were four fences down the back of the course. Wiltshire (R. Syme), who was the first of the pair out, worked by himself. He did not have the pace on in the early stages, and his work was not quite so proficient then as it was later, when he went at the two final jumps at a fast clip and cleared them in great style. Wiltshire pulled up well, and is in great heart. Pouri (E. Warner) had Rarnhlin' Kid (G. Feildfng) -and Farndon (R. Syme) with him as tbey lined up for the start. Pouri took the lead immediately, and was always well clear of the others. He jumped faultlessly, and is undoubtedly in splendid order. This pair will leave for Christchurch to-morrow week.
