COUNTRY PARTY CANDIDATE. MR KEEGAN'S TOUR. MORRINSVILLE, Friday. Mr P Keegan, Country Party candidate for Waikato, is having a most successful tour and getting a wonderful hearing at all his meetings. At Tatuanui on Tuesday night a large, gathering too? place in the nail In spite of a storm raging it was said to be the second largest political meeting ever held in the hall. Mr T. A. Ruston presided. The candidate went fully into questions affecting the community. Answers to questions were greeted with applause anti a hearty vote of appreciation was carried. At Kiwitahi on Wednesday night there was a record attendance, the hall being practically full- Mr N. E. Mik kelsen, who presided, said the candidate was a successful farmer who had lost most of the results of his life's work through signing a joint-andr several guarantee for £IOO.OOO to the Bank of New Zealand, as a war resource, in order 1' secure sufflcien finance to carry on freezing operations through the war period. • Mr Keegan, who made a stirring address, carried the meeting with him, was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence by acclamation.
CHRISTCHURCH SOUTH SEAT. REQUEST TO UNITED PARTY. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. E. H. Andrews a member of the City kmncil, has consented to stand as the Jnited Part/y candidate for the Christchurch South seat, conditional on an assurance being given by the United Party that it will hot under any circumstances vote to place the Labour Party in power provided the party.is returned with a clear majority at the election.
