MORRINSVILLE ORPHANS.
MONTHLY GATHERING. A HAPPY EVENING. Owing to the very uninviting weather conditions in the early part of the evening there was not a largo attendance at the monthly meeting of the Morrinsville Orphans’ Club, but later, when the members attending the annual meeting of the A. and P. Association by special invitation of the president arrived, the Masonic Hall was well filled, and a most enjoyable time was spentBro. O’Connor occupied the chair, and as the evening was termed a topsy-turvy one, when brethren with musical talent were expected to recite or tell amusing stories and the usual reciters were asked to sing, the result was often very amusing, but in several cases unknown talent was discovered and greatly appreciated.
The following was the programme: Orchestra, selection; songs, Bro- L. Buchan; songs, Rev. -Wilkes; community song; recitation, Bro. Faukner. A short address was given by the .chairman, including some amusing Maori stories, and the members of the A. and p. Association were heartily welcomed.
Then followed: Song and stories, Bro. O’Connor; song, Bro. Oates; song, Bro. Norman Day; recitations, Bro. Echlin; song arid amusing speech, Mr P. S. Philpott, president of the A- & p. Association; song Bro. Stringfleld.
