Mr O. Holler, provincial organiser for the United Political Party, was in Hamilton yesterday.

Mr Walter Monk, representing J. G. Williamson, Ltd., was in Hamilton today.

Mr G. Eger ton Lowe, F.T.C.L., examiner lo the Trinity College of Music, London, lias been spending a few days in Hamilton. He left to-day for Pearoa.

The Pope slightly injured a foot in alighting from a motor-car in the grounds of the Vatican. —Rome Gable.

Mr Harry G- Baulf, late of Hamilton, has been appointed provincial secretary of the United Political Party for ihe Auckland province.

Mr JusLice Beeby, of the Arbitration Court, was to-day knocked down by a motor cyclist in Melbourne and sustained a broken leg.

On the Commercial Hotel register are Messrs M- Hendry, T. Hendry, R. Hardy (Opotilci), E. Sullivan (Whakatanc), W. L. Stockman (Napier), and L. Eastbrook (Wellington).

The condition of Bishop Clean', who was injured in a motor-car accident at Hamilton last Sunday, was reported yesterday to be not as satisfactory as it was. on Wednesday, but is not serious. Father Cyril Martindale. of London, is progressing as well as can be expected.

The Rev. W. Saunders, after 38 years’ service as minister of the Moray Place Congregational Church, Dunedin, has retired. Members and friends of the church met Mr and Mrs Saunders at tea, and later a public farewell meeting was held, many tributes being paid to the retiring minister’s work in the church and in the community as a whole-
