CLAUDELANDS SCOUTS.

MEETING OF CQHRfIITTEE. PROGRESS IN' WORK. The monthly meeting of the Claudelands Scout Committee Was held on Wednesday, Mr J. 11. Whitton presiding. .-,"-: The Scoutmaster reported that; 38 badges .were presented to members of the troop at presentation on May 25, and 24' badges had heeu won .during the month, including eight proficiency badges. "-'.-.- The second class Scouts had been taking a course of instruction in fire brigade work at the lire station, under Superintendent Craig. The course had proved tremendously interesting to the boys. Instruction in rope-splic-ing and Indian club drill would corn■menoc shortly under an ex-naval instructor,, whose knowledge and experience would.be of great assistance 'to the troop. Dr. Milroy had promised to instruct the boys for the lleaithman and Public lleaithman badges, and work in these subjects would commence shoTtly. The keenness of the boys was as great as' ever, and the attendance had 'beeh excellent.

A .combined church parade of Scouts, Guides, and 'Cubs will be held in the Claudelands Anglican Church on Sunday, July 15, at 11 a.m. :" Cubmistress E/ Greville reported that the Wolf Club Pack had held its first meeting on June 9, with an attendance -of .12 Cubs. The boys were most enthusiastic, and had entered with great zest into the work and games. One Six had passed Its Tenderfoot tests, and were commencing the first star Work.

The treasurer's report- showed that the finances were in a healthy state. The Scoutmaster was authorised to procure further hooks for the Troop Library, and also four dozen Indian clubs for the use of Hie boys. The Scouts have now a strength of throe officers, eight, other instructors, and 4 6 hoys. The Cubs have a very live pack, and are looking forward to a large increase of members in the near future.
