DUNBDIN, Saturday. a& ';■' At a meeting of the Dunedin Har- ' "tbour Board the secretary reported that Hfej had communicated with Flight Commander Byrd offering the facilities ..of .the port as a fitting-out base for his f expedition before it proceeded to Ross •»-w&«a in connection with the projected ajHsouifi Polar expedition. Commander M Byrd replied that he was aware that :; the Port of Otago had been associated H with the expeditions of Captains Scott m and Shackleton, and he would prober ably call hero. The secretary added that ComI mander Byrd would likely come here ■ with the whaler Larson when she returned in November.
