OBITUARY.

REV. WILLIAM H. FITOHETT, LL.D.

(By Telegraph,—Press Assn.—CopyrigliL> (Australian Press Association). (Received May 26, 9.20 a.m.) MELBOURNE, May 26. The death is announced of Rev. William Henry Fitchett, LL.D.. the distinguished Methodist historian, who for many years was principal of the Methodist College, Hawthorn. He was twice married, and leaves five sons and one daughter Dr. Fitchett was bora In J/awwlnshire, England, and came to Australia with his parents in 18'54. He took his •B.A. degree at the Melbourne University, and was granted his LL.D. by Queen's College, Toronto. He was noted as an author of patriotic books, including "Deeds that Won the Empire," "Fights for the Flag," "How England Saved Europe," and numerous others. He was also the author of a number of works on theological themes. He was for a number of years editor of the Australian Review of Reviews, and subsequently founded Life. He held all the high offices in the Methoflist Church, including the Presidency of the General Conference of Australasia. -r
