OKOROIKE TOURNAMENT.

A very pleasant and successful golf tournament was held at, Okoroirc over the week-end. Unfortunately the heavy rain experienced during the two days precceding the fixture prevented several prominent players from fulfilling their engagements. However, the weather during the tournament was perfect and some very fine • scores were returned. The chief event was th Peerless Challenge Cup and this competition resulted in some very close con-tests among 'the eight players who qualified, the winner eventually turning up in the person of W. Rice, a very promising young local player. As evidence of the closeness of the matches it may be mentioned that two or the games were all square at the 18th. Rice had a held day on the g .first day of the tournament for in addition to qualifying for the Cup, he annexed both the first and -second medal handicaps, notwithstanding a re-handicap after the first win. Another outstanding feature was the fine play of the veteran, \V. B. Col- ' beck, in the four-ball bogey competition. With his partner, A. A. Martin, he returned a card of 9 up. However, tli is was not good enough to win, as Aldred and Francis put in the excellent card of li pp. Those taking 'part were loud in their praises of the condition of the links and the arrangements for their comfort. *r - Results: — ' Peerless Challenge Cup.—W.
