WAIKATO PIG POOL.
BACONERS BEST PROPOSITION. GOOD PRICES REALISED. A SUCCESSFUL SEASON. The N.Z. Co-operative Pig Marketing Association reports the closing of their first pool on all pigs received during November and December. Final payments, cheques to be posted at the beginning of the week, will make a total payout of \\ per J(> for porkers, 4jd per lb for prime haconers, 3Jd per lb for second haconers, and 25-8 d per ih for choppers. At this time the scale price, for porkers is Thl per lb and for prime haconers up to 14011) 4d. The price ruling for choppers is 2d to 21d per Ih. In making this final payment Ihe association draws attention to the fact that no deduction is made from the payout to cover Ihe risk of condemned pigs, and that it is based on Ihe actual dressed weight of the carcase, with no consideration as to a lop-weight limit. As soon as the present distribution has been made immediate attention will he given to the paying of a final bonus on haconers in the second pool. Indications are good in this direction and suppliers should be well satisfied with the return. The experience of the association lo date indicates that haconers are a better proposition than porkers during the greater part of the year. Next season the association advises its suppliers to concentrate on supplying haconers, porkers being easily saleable up to the middle of October and at the tail end of the season, hut during the balance of the season suppliers will he wise, wherever possible, lo supply haconers.
